Hexagram 11 of 64
Peace
☷☰ Earth over Heaven
Harmony and flow.
In the I Ching, Hexagram 11 is peace: heaven and earth meet, so things flow and grow together. The judgment says the small departs and the great arrives, a turning point of balance. Its message is that harmony comes when people act with openness and balance, but it does not last without attention. Keep the flow going by staying honest and humble.
Judgment
What goes out is small and what comes in is great. Good fortune and success.

Heaven and earth join: peace. The ruler shapes the way of heaven and earth to support the people.
The six lines
Read from the bottom line (the beginning) to the top line (the outcome). Each line gives the classical text, our English translation, and a plain-language reading.
Pulling up the grass, the roots come up with the whole clump. Moving forward brings good fortune.
When you start a shared effort, moving forward with people who share your aims makes progress easier.
Bearing with what is rough, crossing the river without hesitation, not neglecting the distant, and forming no faction. Walking the middle way earns favor.
Be generous with people who are rough around the edges, and act with courage. Staying balanced keeps you out of factions.
There is no level ground without a slope, and no journey without a return. Persevering through hardship is without blame. Do not fret over whether you are trusted; there is blessing in daily provision.
Ups and downs are a normal part of any path. Stay steady through the hard stretches and keep the routines that sustain you.
Moving lightly, not enriched at the expense of your neighbors. No warning is needed, because you act with sincerity.
Keep what is fairly yours. Being honest with the people around you keeps the peace.
King Yi gave his younger sister in marriage; this brings blessing and supreme good fortune.
An alliance built on mutual respect and fair terms holds up best.
The city wall falls back into the moat. Do not use an army now; issue orders from your own town. Persevering brings regret.
When something collapses, do not force it with more pressure. Work from your own base and accept the limits.
In practice
Love and relationships
Harmony in a relationship is kept through attention, not assumed. Keep talking openly, and give as well as you receive.
Work and decisions
A cooperative phase is most productive when roles are clear and everyone contributes. Keep workloads balanced, and avoid pushing one side too hard.
Money
Steady, fair dealings with partners and clients tend to serve you best now. Do not count on a good phase lasting without checking your budget and commitments.
How to use this reading
